Imphal, November 25:
The Manipur University Tribal Students Union (MUTSU) has expressed its annoyance and dissastisfaction over the pattern of reservation system followed by the UGC in Manipur University where only 7.5 percent is reserved for tribals as against the State Government's policy of 31 percent reservation.
A press hand-out issued by MUTSU president Gonmei Gaisingam, while asserting that the UGC's reservation pattern is not applicable in a State like Manipur where tribal population constitutes more than 31 percent, strongly advocated for amendment and local adjustments in the reservation pattern being followed in Manipur University.
It further appealed to all tribal M Phil and research scholars of Manipur University to attend an emergency meeting on reservation policy in Manipur University and other central institutions of the State at 12 noon of November 26 at Students' Home, MU.
