Imphal, November 06:
Continuing its drive under the ONK, the proscribed KYKL has pulled up an Assistant Inspector of Schools attached to the ZEO, Thoubal Zone III on charges of misappropriating a huge sum of money from the funds meant for civil works.
Speaking to the media somewhere in the valley area today, a spokesman of the outfit said that the AI, Naorem Tompok Singh of Tentha Khunjao had misappropriated a sum of Rs 5,06,400 out of the total of Rs 1,40,21,000 during the fiscal, 2004-05 and 2006-07.The money was deducted from the total amount in percentage, said the spokesman and added that it was meant for mid day meal scheme for the young students and civil work.
Announcing the penalty of the AI, the spokesman said that henceforth he should not hold any post related to mid day meal scheme or civil works and added that he has been spared from being shot on the knee cap as he is a diabetic.
Sounding a stern warning, the spokesman said that the KYKL will not tolerate any case of corruption in the Education Department and urged all the AIs, DIs, ZEOs and other officers of the Department to discharge their duties diligently and sincerely.
If anyone is found engaged in any misdemeanour then they would be penalised, with the penalty ranging from blocking their salaries and pensions and forced retirement with a few getting their knee caps blown off, warned the spokesman.
Asserting that there must be a number of other AIs and DIs indulging in corruption, apart from Tompok, the spokesman said that they should stop it at once.
The Heads of Department too must ensure that they properly maintain the seniority list of its employees and promotion to AI and DI should be strictly according to the laid down rules and regulations to avoid corruption and favouritism.
The ZEOs, DIs and AIs should also closely monitor the seniority list of teachers working in aided institutions.
This list should be strictly adhered to while working out the modalities of approved and unapproved teachers, said the spokesman and added that the officers should not blindly follow the seniority list submitted by the school committee.
If money changes hands to fudge the seniority list during the DPC for selecting the approved teachers, then the school committee will be held responsible, said the spokesman.
The ZEO, DI and AI will also be held responsible, he added.
