Lamka, November 06:
The District Level Relief Committee constituted earlier last month to check rodent menace has been awarded additional muscle power today with supplemented authority to access, control and initiate necessary action for relief and rehabilitation in respect to any form of crop failure in the district.
Informing the development, DC/CCpur Sumant Singh said he had studied the DSO report and was convinced that the crops had indeed failed in the interiors.
'I am convinced that something has happened in those villages visited by the DSO,' he told the media at a press briefing later today.
With the interior villages already haunted by scarcity of food grains, the Deputy commissioner also informed the media that proposals for establishing village food grain banks in 45 villages have been submitted to authority concerned.
He however evaded a directly response to query on the funds the district has so far received for combating the well publicized 'Mautam'.
It is an irony that despite the establishment of relief committee in this regard nothing has so far been streamlined by the administration.
It is starkly clear that various government departments in the district has received their own share of funds in this regard, yet nothing worthy of mentioning has been visible so far.
On the ongoing EPIC programme, the Dc went on record by saying that 'there would not be any deletion of electorates during the exercise, putting an end to the various rumours of omitting those staying outside the state or currently out of station.
"It is a continuous exercise," he said, therefore every one will have the chance to get themselves photographed.
Besides, for those staying outside a special form in which they have the option of choosing to be an electorate in the state they were staying or their home state, would soon be circulated.
But to avoid any bogus electorate the circulation will be restricted, he added.
