Backing the CDSU appeal to allocate the NIT to Churachandpur District, the public meeting held in this regard today at YPA Hqtrs Hall has urged the State Government to review its earlier decision.
A public resolution adopted during the meeting said that while JAC opposes the move of the State Government to establish NIT in their jurisdiction destroying homesteads, houses, Church plots, agriculture and wet lands, the CDSU on the other has been strongly demanding for the allocation of NIT at Churachandpur and has offered two suitable sites.
"Hence it is resolved that the present proposal of the State Government be reviewed and the same be allotted to Churachandpur District," said the resolution.
AMUCO, CCDD, Irabot Foundation, COHR and UPF, besides the JAC and CDSU have signed the resolution adopted with more than a thousand students.
In his speech, Th Iboyaima the father of social works said, unless development reaches the hill areas of the State, Manipur cannot be developed.
AMUCO president Yangsosong said it will fight for the progress and development of all the people of the State and pledged to stand by JAC and CDSU for social justice, peace and development.
ITLC president, T Haokholian questioned why not a single project could be allotted to Churachandpur when all other development schemes
are located at Imphal.
Reiterating the actions JAC has initiated so far in their movement and the voice of opposition raised by Hill Area Committee in regards to the present NIT site, Kim Gangte said it will continue to work with like-minded people, civil societies, organizations and NGOs for the development of the people.
