Ukhrul, November 06:
Ukhrul District Small Vehicle Owners Assn (UDSVOA) has strongly resented the arrest of two of its members on Oct 31 last by personnel of 19 Assam Rifles 10 Sector IGAR (South), Yangangpokpi Post from Uyungpok area of Ukhrul district.
Addressing a press conference in this connection at Press Club, Ukhrul, UDSV-OA president Qr Asui Halang and its executive members stated that MY.
Wungreiyo of Nungshong village and T Peace of Chingjaroi village are innocent drivers and their vehicles bearing Bolero registration no.MN O5A1369 black in colour and another Bolero LX silver bearing registration no.3858 respectively have been hired by one Sophayo from Ukhrul.
Both of them are members of UDSVOA and branding them as activists of the so called NNLA outfit is baseless, they said while appealing to all concerned for safe release the two drivers without further delay as keeping the innocent person in the custody without any valid reason for more than 24 hours is illegal.
When this correspondent contacted the Lamlai Police station in this connection, the police admitted that they were arrested on October 31 and the Assam Rifles authority handed over the four arrested persons to the
Lamlai Police station.
