Imphal, December 04 2009:
Office rooms of Khuman Lampak electricity sub-station and its main gate were sealed this morning by suspected members of the JAC constituted in connection with the abduction of Electricity Department Executive Engineer Tomalchand and SO Mangi by a militant group.
On the other hand, protest demonstrations were staged at different places against the prolonged detention of the two engineers whereas the JAC functionaries called on the Power Chief Engineer discussed about the issue.
Some people suspected to be members of the JAC barged into the sub-station at about 9 am today and locked the office rooms with the key-locks brought by them.
As they went out, the suspected JAC members also locked the main gate.
Employees resumed their normal duty after a police team arrived there and broke open the locks.
On the other hand, local Meira Paibis staged protest demonstrations against the continued detention of the two engineers at Khurai Thangjam Leikai and near Kongpal Amom bridge today.
They put up placards with appeals for safe release of the engineer duo.
Other placards were inscribed with words which decried the failure of the Government to take up a single positive step to secure release of the two.
Meanwhile, it is reported that JAC members called on the Power Chief Engineer this afternoon and discussed about the unfolding situation.
However, details of the meeting could not be obtained.
