Third Generation (3G) mobile service will be launched in the state from January next year, announced Chief General Manager, North East Circle, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Ranjan Sanyal today.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function of the newly constructed building of BSNL Bhavan near the 1st MR complex, Ranjan Sanyal said, the 3G service to be launched in the state will provide facilities of video conferencing, online talking, high speed internet, live IPTV and Video on demand service to the mobile phone users of BSNL.
The data speed of the new service will be 2 mega bites per second (mbps) with minimum speed of 348 kilo bites per second.
For the 3G service, BSNL has installed 33 towers.
These towers will be commissioned soon so that the 3G technology service could be a New Year gift to the people of the state.
BSNL will also launch digital satellite phone terminal and Wireless Rural Broadband (WI-Max) services at the earliest so as to improve communication in the remote areas of the state.
He also went on to say that the BSNL Bhavan opened today is a landmark step in the field of telecommunication service in the state.
Sophisticated equipments installed in this bhavan were enable staffs of the BSNL to operate at the higher level.
Chief Engineer (civil), North East Circle, Abraham Jacob graced the function as chief guest and General Manager SSA, BSNL, Manipur M Krishna presided over the funciton.
On the occasion technical expert, W Inaobi of BSNL, Imphal was honored with Sansar Seva Pathak for his outstanding service.
The award consisted of Rs 21,000, a silver medal and a citation.
Meanwhile speaking on the sideline of the function, chief general manager Ranjan clarified that there is no question of taping talks on mobile and landline by the police.
They are intercepting it.
Police has been intercepting the mobile phone and telephonic talk as per instruction from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs considering for the internal security of the country.
Lack of awareness on the matter people talk about taping it.
