Lamka, September 29 2010:
The stand-off between CDSU and the private schools' body here that ultimately leads to the indefinite closure of all member schools ended today with the personal intervention of the Deputy Commissioner, after she persuaded the two bodies for a joint meeting at her office.
The joint meeting convened by Jacintha Lazarus discussed the circumstances that led to the stand-off in detail, and eventually arrived at an amicable solution after the CDPSA acknowledge that the misunderstanding was due to a communication gap, said a joint statement released after the meeting.
The statement that announced the CDPSA decision to re-open all the schools from tomorrow however refrains from mentioning the fate of the sacked 11 students, who were the bone of contention in the present skirmishes.
Meanwhile, the COPTAM has announced its decision to resume the agitation it had initiated earlier but suspended for a while after an alleged assurance of a Cabinet Minister to address their grievances.
The decision to resume the agitation that entails closure of Government offices, bandh on Government vehicles, activities and programme from October 1, according to COPTAM was taken due to the continual manipulation of census information submitted earlier to simply meet the SPF governments' desired ST population growth percentage.
COPTAM also expressed their reservation on the attempt to convert Moreh into a Municipality Urban area, besides the delay in devolution of powers to the ADCs.
It further warned that 'a time for complete rejection of the ADCs is in the offing,' if the Government continues to subjugate the State tribals' interest.
