Education (School) Directorate is understood to have taken up works to conduct a DPC for appointment of regular headmasters of government schools so as to solve the inconveniences arising out of running schools with headmaster in-charges.
An official source today said that most of the government schools under the Directorate of Education (S) are running without regular headmaster.
This has hampered in school developmental works, it observed.
The source said that a special DPC for the teachers who are currently looking after schools as headmasters in-charge will be conducted in October through the Manipur Public Service Commission.
Appointment of regular headmasters will follow.
The conduct of the DPC through MPSC is being taken up by the state government as part of its policy of bringing quality education in the state, the source disclosed.
Government is also considering to conduct a DPC to fill in posts of principals of government colleges which is a long pending demand of students and teachers' bodies.
Mention may be made that Education minister L Jayentakumar had hinted that government is working for a rationalization of government colleges by amalgamating colleges having scanty number of students.
This is to achieve quality education in the state he added.
