CM, Cong party, Zeliangrong students condole

Imphal, September 29 2010:
Former deputy speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Z Mangaibou has passed away this morning at his residence at Langol Tarung village, Imphal after a prolonged illness.
He was 52 and is survived by his wife and four sons and a daughter.
Family sources said, Mangaibou had been undergoing treatment for quite some time.
His health condition deteriorated yesterday.
Z Mangaibou was first elected to the 7th Manipur Legislative Assembly on MSCP ticket in 2000 from Tamei Assembly Constituency
of Tamenglong district.
In the mid term poll in the year 2002, he won the election from the Indian National Congress (INC) ticket.
He had held several portfolios during his tenure as a Minister of State for Works, Adult Education, SCERT, Labour and Employment.
He lost election in the year 2007 .
He was founder secretary of Liangmei Art and Culture Association, Manipur, was General Secretary of Liangmei Students' Uniion, Manipur and Nagaland (1972-76), Secretary of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (1977-78), founder president of People's Development Agency (1982), vice president of All Naga Students' Association, Manipur (1982-84), was joint secretary of Manipur People's Party (1989-90), General Secretary (Hills), MPP (1990), finance secretary of United Naga Council (1991-92), etc.
among others.
His wife A Sabitri @ Z Sabitri Newmai is a Member of Autonomous District Council, Tamenglong district.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, several ministers, bureaucrats, social workers, Autonomous District Council chairmen and well wishers paid their tributes to the Late former minister.
In a message of condolence, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that he was deeply pained to hear the sad news of the demise of Z Mangaibou.
"Former Minister, Z Mangaibou was a man of principle and great political vision.
A soft spoken person, who will be fondly remembered by all for his straightforwardness and good sense of humour.
On his demise, the state has lost a political leader, who always stood for the welfare of people" .
President of MPCC, Gaikhangam in a condolence message said that the party has suffered a great shock on hearing the news of the sudden demise of Z Mangaibou, a member of MPCC.
As a member of the Congress party, the spirit and courage shown by him will be remembered by the people of Manipur forever.
His death is an irreparable loss not only to the Congress party but also to the people of Manipur, Gaikhangam said adding that the party shares the grief of the bereived family.
Manipur Youth Pradesh Congress Committee (MPYCC) has also condoled the sudden demise of Z Mangaibou.
A condolence meeting was held at the office of MPYCC, BT road, Imphal with President of MPYCC, MLA M Prithviraj in the chair along with other office bearers of the MPYCC.
The meeting observed a two minute silent.
In its condolence message, the All Zeliangrong Students Union of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AZSU-AMN) said that the untimely demise of Z Mangaibou is a great loss for the Zeliangrong community and 'nothing can fill the void created by the death of the ex-minister." It said that Mangaibou was a former joint secretary of the AZSU.
It further said that Z Mangaibou had been the constant source of inspiration for the Zeliangrong community.
In other messages of condolence, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Delhi (ZSUD) and Zeliangrong Welfare Association, Delhi (ZWAD) have expressed deep shock over the sudden and untimely demise of a respected and beloved leader Z Mangaibou Newmai.
The ZSUD and the ZWAD join the bereaved family, the Zeliangrong people and all the people associated with the departed leader to mourn the passing away of the former MLA and Minister, who was one of the most prominent Zeliangrong leaders.
A condolence service in the loving memory of Z Mangaibou Newmai was held in Zeliangrong Christian Fellowship, Prayer Center, Munirka, New Delhi at 6 pm today.
The congregation prayed that many more persons of such noble personality with a love and concern for his people would be born to the Zeliangrong community, the message said.
Zeliangrong Boudi Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, head office Kakhulong, Imphal and All Zeliangrong Students' Union (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) have also condoled the sudden demise of Z Mangaibou.
