A Labour Welfare Scheme which would address the grievances of the labourers working in the unorganized sector will be implemented soon in the state, labour, health and family welfare minister, Ph Parijat said today.
Speaking at the State Level Awareness Programme held at Manipur Press Club, Major Khul organised by the All India Youth Federation (AIYF, Manipur State Council in association with the state labour department, Parijat said that it is a must for the government to think of for the welfare of the labourers working in the unorganized sectors.
He said these sections of labourers who are working day to day available works are facing outmost difficulties in earning their daily breath.
State Labour Welfare Board formed under the chair by the labour commissioner, Tomba Sharma has submitted its report and after examining by the advisory board chaired by him (labour minister), the chairman of the committee, Tomba had left Imphal for onward submission to the Union ministry of labour.

were the members of the board, he said adding that under the scheme, the state labour department is expecting to receive a fund of Rs 10 crore to 15 crore per year from the Central government.
In taking up the welfare scheme of the unorganized sector, one percent of the total annual budget of each department will be contributed to the labour department.
The fund so collected will be utilized in taking up welfare programmes of the labourers in the unorganized sector and in assisting them at the time of casualty on them during working.
Health insurance schemes will also be taken up, he added.
The health insurance scheme will also cover people below the poverty line.
At time any illness, fund upto Rs 30,000 will be provided under the scheme.
Deputy labour commissioner NS Gokulmani who also spoke on the occasion said that the department is drafting an Act which would regulate the street venders in Imphal city.
President of the AIYF, Manipur State Council, Sh Punimashi said the programme has been organised to aware the working class people about the schemes taken up by the government for their welfare.
In the technical session, labour inspector E Tomba talked on "Main provision of laws for security of workers" while Rural Labour Inspector, I Priyokumar on "Payment of gratuity".
