Imphal, November 12:
With the Assembly elections approaching fast, the RJD Manipur unit has castigated the SPF Govt.
During a one day political conference of RJD Yaiskul Kendra today at Wangkhei Puja Lampak, former Chief Minister and RJD State unit president Wahengbam Nipamacha taking exception to the often repeated bashing of the previous Governments for the existing financial crisis of the State, disclosed that out of Rs 2421.10 crores taken as loan by the SPF Government, only Rs 226.49 had been repaid till March 31 this year.
He further questioned whether the SPF Government would blame the next Government for the huge amount of money it took as loan from the Union Government and other financial institutions.
Nipamacha further lamented that the misunderstanding now plaguing the education system of the State was an offshoot of including education in the concurrent list during the period of National emergency under Congress rule in 1976. He further remarked that it was a disgrace to all the people of Manipur for the ruling Congress party to remain silent when the neighbouring State has been making all covert and overt efforts to interfere in the education system of Manipur.
However, the former Chief Minister opined that the Union Government and other neighbouring States would not be able to unduly interfere in the education system of Manipur even as it was included in the concurrent list if the State Government was strong enough and really concerned for Manipur.
But then the present Congress led Government is just following the instructions of its high command mechanically, noted Nipamacha.
Speaking on the occasion, general secretary of RJD Manipur unit S Natum observed that the stoic silence maintained by the successive Governments over the years even after the territorial boundary and the fundamental rights of the citizens of Manipur have been repeatedly threatened was a clear testimony of the fact that the Congress party lack genuine concern for the people of Manipur.
Asserting that people have realised it was the Congress party which has been challenging the integrity of the 2000 year old Manipuri society, he observed that the forthcoming Assembly elections is a perfect opportunity to teach the Congress party a befitting lesson.
Today's political conference was presided by vice-president of RJD Yaiskul Kendra Council M Samungou while leader of RJD Assam Faizur Rehaman and National secretary in-charge (North East Provinces) of RJD Avinash Rai were the special guests.
