The three persons including two important leaders of the proscribed UNLF who were arrested by a special team of Delhi Police from Indira Gandhi International Airport on the night of October 2 have been brought to Imphal by an Indian Airlines plane today.
The Indian Airlines plane touched down at Tulihal Airport at around 2.30 pm today.
The three persons are identified as Thounaojam Shyamkumar alias Sanayaima alias Sanayai (39) s/o Th Binoy of Andro but staying at Uripok Yambem Leikai Phanjoubam Ghanashyam alias Romio alias Priyo alias Michael alias Yaimachou (45) of Wangkhei Konsam Leikai and Moirangthem Jayantakumar alias Milan alias James (45) of Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi.
According to police sources, all three of them were arrested by Delhi Police on the night of October 2 while trying to board a plane to Kathmandu.
The Delhi Police also seized one pen drive and one CD from their possession.
Phanjoubam Ghanashyam is said to be not only a lieutenant colonel of UNLF but is also in charge of deputy secretary regional affairs while Moirangthem Jayantakumar is in charge of deputy secretary (finance) of the outfit.
The police source further claimed that Thounaojam Shyamkumar is not only a sympathiser who provides shelter to the underground activists at his house, but also make necessary arrangements for the UGs to participate in meetings outside the State and abroad.
Ahead of their arrival, stringent security measures were taken up in and around Tulihal Airport today.
All three of them are expected to be produced before the Court tomorrow.
One Delhi police personnel had accompanied them to Imphal, though the seizure made from them were not handed over to the State police, the sources added.
