Imphal, Jun 11:
Asserting that the doctors and medical employees should be allowed to enjoy NPA at par with their colleagues under Central Government, the Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association, RIMS said that the demand of Manipur Health Association is genuine and ought to be fulfilled at the earliest.
In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, the Association noted that the responsibility and work load of State health workers and officers are no less than those of Central health workers.
It further attributed the large scale shiftment of experienced doctors under Manipur Government to private clinics, RIMS and beyond the State to the unhealthy working environment and meagre salary as compared to their counterparts under Central Govt and private establishments.
It also cautioned that such trend, if it continues, would lead to total collapse of the Manipur Health Services as people are losing faith in Manipur Government's health service system after it is deserted by many medical specialists.
Disclosing that the ongoing cease work strike of Manipur Health Services Association has put RIMS under a heavy burden beyond its manageable capacity which may force it to compromise its service quality.
Such compromise on service quality may lead to misunderstanding and dissatisfaction to the patients and their relatives.
In such a case, the Teachers' and Medical Officers' Association would be constrained to take its own actions which would aggravate the present hardships and inconveniences being faced by poor patients who cannot afford to go to private clinics, cautioned the memorandum while urging for amicable solution at the earliest.
