Imphal, August 27 2009:
Expressing dissatisfaction over the functioning of the district's Food and Civil Supply (FCS) officials, Fair Price Shop agents of Senapati district are avoiding services concerning distribution of food stuff in the district.
FPS agents of the district are contending that FCS officials of the district are yet to release PDS rice quota for four months, which about 1500 quintals.
As per information conveyed by the agents, the district's FCS authorities had been holding back 388 quintals of the food item meant for 14 villages under Mao Assembly Constituency for the months of January and february, 2008 with about 1100 quintals denied to over 53 villages under Tadubi AC for the said months this year.
Expressing that inefficiency on the part of officials concerned are unwarranted as the agents had already deposited the requisite amount to the FCS, one A Daiko who is also an FPS agent from Tadubi AC said such denial of food item is criminal negligence as economically unsound families in the two assembly segments are the hardest hit.
"Though the fCS officials said rice quotas for March and April this year would be distributed we flatly rejected it and made it clear to them that until and unless the due rice quotas are released we will never receive the new quotas," Daiko maintained.
Not ruling out the agents resorting to violent agitations in case attempts are made to distribute the new quotas, he also insisted that the Government would be held responsible if any untoward incidents occur as a consequence of the proposed agitation.
Disclosing that for Karong A/C , which is also in the same district as Mao and Tadubi are, there is no back-log regarding distribution of the rice quota, some disgruntled FPS agents also questioned competency of the district's FCS transport contractor and demanded that the Govt replace the contractor with an efficient one.
