Imphal, December 02 2010:
To frequent fliers, especially when they have to take connecting flights, luggages and baggages not making it to their destination along with the passenger concerned is not rare and this is attributed largely to human error.
The same problem is being regularly faced today by air passengers flying into Tulihal airport, but for reasons which could have easily been avoided.
Proprietor of Haokip Travels, one of the more well known and respected travel agency, informed that more often than not, bagges and luggages of passengers are off loaded at Calcutta or Guwahati or Delhi, since the aircraft is already under heavy strain to bear the weight.
Explaining, he said that since IOC has failed to supply the Aviation Turbine Fuel here, the practise is for the aircraft to fly to Imphal with the return fuel as well.
This increases the weight load and to counter this passengers luggages are often unloaded, leading to severe inconveniences.
This has been happening since the last two/three months, he added.
The flights now carry on board only the passengers and life saving drugs, he informed and added that the Government must try to do something substantial so that IOC does nopt run out of ATF.
