H Max provided two and scored one as IBSA, Yumnam Leikai scripted an impressive 4-0 win over ABA, Kshetrigao in the opening match of the 54th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI CBE Memorial Football Tournament at Mapal Kangjeibung today.
A Max cross ended with K Newton heading in the opening goal of the competition in the 11th minute before the provider increased the advantage from a Newton cross two minutes later.
P Prasanjit's first of the match in the 35th minute also from a Max cross extended the lead to 3-0 at the break.
Prasanjit rounded off the easy win with another goal in the 62nd minute.
NLYC, Churachandpur and SC LOAGOS, Sadar hills will play tomorrow at 11.30 am while ESU, Wangkhei and UFC, Ukhrul will face off at 1.30 pm.
Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated with Sports Minister N Biren Singh and chairman of the tourney's Organising Committee AH Choudhury (Retd IAS) as the chief guest and president respectively.
In all 29 teams, including Federation Cup runners-up Lajong FC of Shillong are competing for the top honour in the coveted tournament being played on knock-out format.
The final match is scheduled for December 20 .
