Taking serious note of the abduction of two RIMS engineers by the KCP in connection with monetary demand and unlawful activities of some Kuki UG groups under SoO pact, a security meeting was held today with the Chief Minister in the chair.
After arriving at Imphal from Delhi today, Chief Minister O Ibobi convened an emergency meeting at 3 pm at his office chamber.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Rakesh, Principal Secretary (Home) DS Poonia, DGP Y Joykumar, GOC 57 Mountain Division Shakti Gurung and 10 Sector Commander of IG AR (South) Jha.
The meeting discussed in detail the incidents of abductions and other criminal activities.
It also studied several possible means to secure safe release of the abducted officials.
Army and Assam Rifles officials assured that they will work for safe release of the abducted officials after talking with the groups under SoO pact and the KCP (MC).
Later, another meeting was held with RIMS Director Prof L Fimate and Superintendent Prof Y Mohan during which the abduction of RIMS engineers was deliberated at length.
The meeting also discussed on launching security operation to rescue the abducted engineers.
NHRC chief to come : Chairperson of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Justice S Rajendra Babu will be coming to Imphal to participate in the regional workshop on disabilities slated to be organised by the Government of Manipur and the State Human Rights Commission on December 15 and 16 .
To be attended by representatives from all the North Eastern States, there will five different discussion sessions on the education, employment, access and services and preventive measures of the disabled persons and the recommendations adopted would be submitted to the Government of India.
The workshop is to be inaugurated by the Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Th Debendra.
