Concerned over the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS cases in Manipur and ignorance of harmful effect of premarital sex, the State Government is making all necessary procedure to include sex education in college curriculum by the 2005 session at the latest.
Obviously reflecting the changing behavior of up-coming generation regarding sex which the society still considers to be an issue fit for discussion only within the four walls of a room, the State Govt intent on preventing further spread of HIV/AIDS disease in embarking on starting sex education from the most vulnerable stage, said an official source.
For inclusion in the college curriculum (from next session, if possible), a committee consisting of college principals have begun processes to fine tune the curriculum context.
besides sex education the committee is also assessing providing more information on environment and sports studies, said the source adding the e panel is likely to submit a detailed report by December this year.
