In a shocking incident, a 14-year old girl was allegedly raped by her uncle identified as Paul Hungyo s/o (L) Kenneth Hungyo of Bungpa village in the night of September 22 at Tangrei, Ukhrul.
The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm when the wife of Paul went outside leaving the minor girl along with her husband in the kitchen, according to family members of the victim.
Narrating the trauma, the family members said that, while his wife had gone out of the house, Paul took the little girl to the bed, removed all her clothes and repeatedly raped her till 10.30 pm on September 22 and threatened to kill the victim if she disclosed such act to others.
After prolonged struggle the victim could somehow manage to run out of the room where she was raped and rushed to the other room naked where she was given shelter by one of her maternal aunties on that fateful night, further said the family members.
Paul Hungyo, who married the younger sister of the victim's mother seven years ago, besides allegedly committing the crime, had even threatened all the family members of eliminating them if the incident happened to be disclosed and claimed himself to have butchered 15 people in the past, according to the family members.
After medical examination confirmed rape and the police registered a case, Paul Hungyo, an alleged former cadre of NSCNIM has been sent to Sajiwa Jail while the victim, a class 9 student of Little Angel's School Ukhrul is presently sheltering in trauma at the residence of Pastor Johny Shimray at Dewlaland, Imphal for treatment.
