Having proved to one and all that infection with the HIV virus does not mean giving up on life, champion body builder Khundrakpam Pradipkumar's grit and determination is all set to reach and grab international attention through the lenses of film maker Aribam Syam Sharma.
Syam Sharma's documentary depicting the life and hours Pradipkumar spent at gyms to battle against HIV/AIDS and tide over the stigma and discrimination society attaches to HIV-positive people will be screened at the five day long 8th MIAAC film festival at New York from November 5 .
Sharing his concept on Pradipkumar's battle against HIV/AIDS, Syam Sharma said the 25 minute documentary film focuses on the ace body builder's life and achievement.
Inspite of the infection Pradipkumar won the Mr Manipur 2007 title in the 60 kg category besides finishing sixth in the National Body Championship held in March this year at Meerut and 4th in another National level competition at Aurangabad in June.
"I feel so great to have my film chosen for the New York festival.
I'm more happier that Pradipkumar's success story would have an international audience," expressed the eminent film-maker, whose other award winning productions include 'Imagee Ningthem' and 'Ishanou' to name a few.
Directed by the 73 year-old film-maker 'Mr Manipur' was a commissioned production under Doordarshan Kendra, Imphal and would be screened at New York as one of the Indian Independent and Diaspora films.
The film would be screened on November 8 evening.
Citing qualities of determination, dedication, hard work and stability of mind in Pradipkumar's battle against HIV/AIDS as the chief ingredients of the film, Syam Sharma also opined that the body builder's achievement is a clear message that HIV/AIDS could be subdued and the stigma and discrimination attached to it can be shrugged off.
Commenting on the film, Pradipkumar expressed that the documentary is certain to a have positive impact and bolster HIV/AIDS infected people to live life in a dignified and healthy manner.
He also conveyed of intense preparation for the Federation Cup at kerala where he hoped to finish in a better position.
