Even as the Manipur Forward Youth Front (MAFYFY) condemned the burning of Guwahati bound inter-State bus at Lahorijan, Assam that killed two passengers, Treatened Indigenous People's Society (TIPS) Manipur submitted a memorandum to Union Surface Transport Minister demanding highway protection force.
The memorandum submitted by TIPS said that as NH-49 and NH-53 are the only lifelines of the State, these highways are needed to be guarded by a protection force/QRT team comprising of Central para-military forces on regular basis.
The meomorandum also conveyed that incidents of harrasment to bus operators and passengers are happening every now and then in these two highways.
Terming the burning of bus as an act of terrorist, MAFYF strongly condemned the incident.
The body also pledged support to any agitation initiated by the bus association.
MAFYF also urged the concerned UG group not to repeat such barbaric acts in future.
The body also urged the State Government to bring a way out not to happen such incidents.
