Congress MLA from Moirang Assembly Constituency, Mairenbam Manindra passed away today morning at RIMS following a long ailment.
The MLA was first admitted to Shija Hospitals and Research Centre from where he was referred to RIMS.
Manindra is the second MLA in the 8th Assembly to have passed away while in office.
Earlier, Thokchom Nabakumar of Khundrakpam AC passed away last year.

He was 67 and is survived by his wife, Longjam ningol Mairenbam ongbi Amita Devi, three sons and one daughter.
The mortal remains of the MLA was taken from RIMS to his official quarters at Kanglapat road where a large number of people, including political leaders turned up in droves to receive the body.
From the official residence, the body was then taken to the State Assembly secretariat, where Chief Minister O Ibobi led in paying floral tributes to the departed soul.
Later the body was taken to Congress Bhawan party workers paid their tributes.
Besides the Chief Minister, MPCC (I) president Gaikhangam, Cabinet Ministers and MLAs attended the condolence meeting.
Hailing the late man as an asset to the State, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that his death is a big loss for the State.
A statement issued by the Joint Secretary of the Home Department said that Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Ministerial colleagues and MLAs offered floral tributes to the mortal remains of Manindra at the Assembly Secretariat.
A two minute silence was observed to pay respect to the departed soul.
The members present also shared the grief and pain of the family members.
A guard of honour was also given to the late MLA at Moirang where the final rites were performed.
With the passing away of Manindra the strength of the Congress in the Assembly now stands at 30 .
AICC general secretary in charge of NE, Prithiviraj Chauhan is among those who have offered their condolence.
Former Union Minister of State and MP Th Chaoba has deeply condoled the demise of Manindra.
In a condolence message, Chaoba said that Manindra was well known leader and dedicated social worker not only for Moirang but for the whole of Bishnupur district.
He also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family members.
The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, District Youth Congress Committee, Imphal East and KFNF, Moirang Apunba Lup have also condoled the demise of the MLA.
