CONGRESS MLA Mairenbam Manindra of Moirang Assembly Constituency has passed away this morning at 7.05 at the RIMS Hospital where he was being treated for his illness.
He was 68 years old and is survived by his wife, a daughter and three sons.
Manindra who had been suffering from diabetes was admitted to RIMS Hospital a few days back.
Earlier he had been hospitalised on several occasions for diabetic attacks.
Due to his illness, he could not participate in the last Assembly session.
He was admitted to Shija Hospitals and Research Institute last Thursday, and was treated there for two days.

Since his sugar level had reached the extreme, all medications given by doctors were in vain.
He was shifted from the Shija Hospital to RIMS at about 3 p.m yesterday.
Super specialist doctors of RIMS hospital tried to save his life throughout last night but gave up hopes at about 7.05 a.m today.
The Congress leader breathed his last at that time.
As soon as the news of his passing away reached the Chief Minister's ears, he, along with his wife and also MLA of Khangabok AC, Okram Ongbi Landhoni visited the departed MLA's quater at Kanglapark.
President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee Gaikhangam, Agriculter Minister N Loken, MLA of Heirok AC, M Oken, IFCD Minister, N Biren, Health and Family Welfare Ph Parijat, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, PHED Minister TN Haokip, CPI MLA, N Mangi, other MLAs and many eminent politicians visited the MLA's quater.
Later the MLA's mortal remains were brought to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Complex accompanied by a band party of 1st Manipur Riffles.
At the Assembly Complex, the mortal remains were covered with the tri colour flag and a condolence ceremony was held with state honours.
A contingent of 1st MR gave the departed soul general salute and sounded the last post.
Assembly Speaker Dr S Budhichandra, leader of the House O Ibobi, Ministers, Deputy Speaker, Th Shyamkumar, MPP MLA, O Joy and others offered floral tributes to the departed leader.
After that the mortal remains were brought to the Congress Bhavan near the BT Road where Congress Short film on Ratan Thiyam in Indian Panorama leaders and workers honoured the leader with floral tributes.
Later, the Ministers, MLAs and party workers accompanied the body to his native place Moirang Kiyam Leikai.
There again the local people paid floral tributes to their leader.
In the evening, his mortal remains were consigned to the holy flames as per religious tradition.
Manindra who was born on February 24,1941 was elected as MLA of Moirang in the last assembly election on Congress ticket by defeating his nearest Manipur People's Party candidate S Gopal.
Meanwhile Manipur People's Party held a condolence meeting under the chairmanship of the party president, former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Leishangthem Chandraman.
