Imphal, January 12 2009:
Personnel of the Customs Preventive Force, stationed at Pallel detected and seized 58.4 Kgs of wild life items (Deer horn antlers) valued at Rs 29,20,000 on January 7, said a statement issued by its Assistant Commissioner.
Another 116 Kgs of Pangolin shell valued at Rs 17,49,000 were also seized, said the statement adding that all the items were seized from a Tata truck bearing registration number MN01-7220.

The truck was intercepted at Pallel gate and was heading towards Moreh from Imphal, added the Assistant Commissioner.
The wild life items were meant to be smuggled outside India, possibly to China, added the statement.
A number of wild life items have been detected and seized on the Imphal-Moreh route to be smuggled outside the country.
Smuggling in wild life items has been on the rise.
