The day has been remembered and observed as the Meira Paibee Day, Leishemba stated.
After the women's movement in May 1980, the womenfolk of the state have continued to be the watchdog of every locality, the statement observed.
The Meira Paibee had also saved one Ibomcha of Heirangoithong from the clutch of 13JK Army, who was detained on charge of planting a bomb at Heirangoithong Mutum Leirak on December 29, 1980, it recalled.
The womenfolk of the state first came to be known as 'Meira Paibee' since thousands of womenfolk took out a torch rally on Sajibu Nongma Panba day of 1983 from Kakwa Lamdaibung, Singjamei, Kongba, Khongman, Ningomthong and Thongju, the RPF statement traced.
