Imphal, May 28 2009:
Final tribute was paid to the late Prof and former dean, MD Islamuddin at the community hall of the economic department of the Manipur University (MU), Thursday by his colleagues, staffs and students of the university, family members and well wishers.
His mortal remains was then taken to his homestead in Yairipok of Thoubal district where the last rites were performed.

The joint action committee (JAC) against the murder and family members accepted the body of the late former dean from the mortuary of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) after a cabinet meeting Wednesday had agreed to compensate befittingly for the professor and hand over the case to the CBI.
Security personnel, however, had to have a tough time with the mob that gathered near the quarters of the late professor at the MU campus where his dead body was kept and were protesting the murder of the professor.
They also held placards that protested the murder and thus read, "The killing of Professor M.D Islamuddin is under the concept that minority Muslims are weak in power".
Using loudspeakers, they also yearn for quality education in Manipur and accused the proscribed Manipur based Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) of being a terrorist and an enemy of the minority Muslims.
