Imphal, September 23, 2009:
The Apunba Lup has alleged the government of high-handed in seeking solutions to the demands of the people against the Khwairamband fake en counter incident while also alleging it of resorting to imposition of curfew, terrorising, disrupting sit-in-pro tests and torch rallies, shelling tear gas canisters to protestors, arresting civilians, and detaining leaders under NSA.
Drawing a comparison of the Ibobi regime with that of the controversial Tughlaq ruler, Muhammad Bin Tughlaq, a statement issued by the Working Committee of the Apunba Lup today stressed that the Muhammad Bin Tughlaq government should be toppled.
It pointed out that the mouth of all the ministers and MLAs of the Congress are gagged by Ibobi and the entire body of the Congress too remains as a doll.
It also derided the Governor for maintaining long silent.
Noting that while Mahatma Gandhi launched a hunger strike for a short while it was a great concern, the statement has taken strong exception over the CM and PM's sidelining of the hunger fast launched by Sharmila for over eight years now.
The statement asserted that all MLAs of the state including the opposition members have to resign if the demand for the toppling of Ibobi is met.
It observed that the curfews, bandhs, and blockades have paralyzed the functioning of the government and educational institutions were closed.
There has been fear of being looted on the national high ways, price of commodities has risen.
On the other hand; bombs were hurled at residences, kidnapping for ransoms has increased, and offices are shut due to fear of extortion.
These are the factors which show that there is no good governance in the state.
It alleged Ibobi of posing an open challenge to the rule of law and democracy by unleashing all the vices in the state.
