The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of parents and guardians of 835 appointed primary teachers of 2006, has called bandh in all the hill districts of Manipur from the midnight of October 9 till 5 pm of October 12 demanding the definite placement of the appointed teachers.
It was resolved in a meeting of parents/guardians meeting of 2006 appointed primary teachers held on Thursday that the bandh would be initiated again if their demand is met, stated Chungsat Khongsai, convenor of the JAC.
In the meeting, gratitude was expressed to the High Court (HC) for allowing the 835 appointed primary teachers of 2006 to continue their service and directing the ADC to pay the pending arrears and allow advances payable by the government to the teachers.
Stating that the 835 ap pointed primary teachers would not sit for fresh DPC scheduled for October 11, the convenor asserted that the High Court had clearly mentioned that the 835 teachers are not excess appointees.
They have all the documents for the respective schools they are serving for added Chungsat Khongsai.
LGangte, retired principal of Dhanamanjuri College (DM), Imphal and also the advisor of JAC further maintained that the HC has already ordered the 835 teachers not to sit for the fresh DPC.
The government should reserve seats for 835 teachers out of the total 3453 which is going to be freshly recruited.
The advisor further stated that the despite the order of the HC favouring for 835 teachers, government is not reciprocating in a positive way to solve the pending case of 835 teachers.
In the meeting, R.S Khawungsing, co-convenor of the JAC appealed to the people of Manipur to cooperate with them in their agitation.
The JAC would be submitting an ultimatum to the government for prompt action.
