Acting on specific information, personnel of 'Dimapur Women Cell' managed to arrest two persons, husband and wife, for trafficking three girls from Dimapur to Mumbai and forcing into flesh trade.
The arrest was made on Monday, sources confirmed today while also revealing that a Naga girl (name withheld) and her two friends were taken to Mumbai in April 2008 with promises of providing lucrative jobs.
However, on reaching Mumbai, the Naga girl was reportedly raped by five persons and then sent to a brothel, where she remained for around six months.
Police revealed today that in November last year, the girl managed to escape from the brothel and after meeting one Assamese lady, she contacted her cousin in Delhi.
With the help of the Assamese lady, who kept her for a few days, she finally reached Delhi and came back to Dimapur this week.
On reaching Dimapur, she narrated the incident to her relatives, who lodged a compliant to the 'Women Cell Dimapur' and based on the victim's statement the duo identified as Sanjeeb Dutta, s/o late D Dutta of Thahekhu village in Dimapur and his wife Ochemenla were arrested on Monday.
Police said that another accused Jamaluddin is still absconding.
However, the whereabouts of the other two girls is not known, police said expressing fears that they might be in some brothels in Mumbai, which police said would be revealed only after interrogating the accused.
