Imphal, February 24 2012:
Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur (ZSUM) has urged the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur(BSEM) and Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur (COHSEM)to initiate action against OC Ramananda Singh and ASO Sharat Singh, who allegedly encourage use of unfair means and mass copying in the ongoing HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations at Nongmai (Noney) private centre, Tamenglong district.
In a statement, Education Secretary of ZSUM NK Alungbou Newmai recalled that during a joint meeting of Zeliangrong Students' Union, Longmai Area, Inpui Students' Union, Longmai Students' Union, OC Ramananda Singh, ASO Sharat Singh and all invigilators held on February 23 resolved not to allow unfair means in the examinations.
But contrary to the decision, these two officials gave free hands to the examinees and allow them to indulge in mass copying, Alungbou charged, adding that ZSUM would not remain silent if the authorities concerned fail to take up against the two erring officials.
BSEM and COHSEM should also be responsible for any eventuality over the failure of initiating appropriate action against the two officials, Alungbou warned.
He also appealed to the general public and all the authorities concerned to extend their co-operation towards ensuring free and fair conduct of the examination.
