Mizoram govt concerns crime against women

The government of Mizoram is very much concern on the rising rate of crime cases against the fairer sex in the state.
Mizoram chief minister Lal Thanhawla expressed deep concerned over the rise of crime cases in the state.
He said that its a shame that the numbers of crime and related issues have increased many folds across Mizoram.
Lal Thanhawla was saying this while convening a discussion programme on 'Crime against women and child & other prominent unnatural deaths' attended by Mizoram home minister R Lalzirliana, Social welfare minister P.C Lalthanliana, Chief Secretary Vanhela Pachuau besides representatives from NGOs and social activists in Aizawl on Friday.
The chief minister said that the state government is deeply concerned over this issue and will take necessary measures to thwart the crime.
In this connection, he urged the representatives and his cabinet colleagues to have strong determination and to take step together so that crime against women or any other relating issue be declined in Mizoram.
The discussion had agreed to have Cyber Crime Police Station in order to check cyber crime.
The discussion highlights that there are 168 incidents of crime against women like rape, attempt to rape, molestation, women trafficking during the year 2011 while 19 cases have already been registered this year.
Since 2008 to October last year, the Mizoram police had registered 303 rape cases while about 105 suicide cases in 2011 alone.
