10 political parties to meet today; Rehearsal for vote count in progress

Following unconfirmed reports that Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided against any possibility of re-poll, the ten 10 non-Congress political parties in the state has convened a joint meeting in this regard at Hotel Imphal tomorrow.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the 10 non-Congress political parties have convened a joint meeting at 8:30 am tomorrow following receipt of unconfirmed report that the ECI have ruled out possibility of any re-poll in the state and would go ahead with counting of the votes as scheduled.
The meeting would discuss minutely over the veracity of the report received.
The 10 non-Congress political parties recently convened two meetings and unanimously resolved to press the ECI and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, to desist from conducting re-poll and carry on with counting of votes by discarding all the bogus votes.
But so far there has been no response either from ECI or from CEO.
Moreover, three Special Observers of the ECI who were scheduled to arrive here on February 22 cancelled their visit without giving any reasons.
Meanwhile, Shantikumar Sharma, President, BJP, Manipur Pradesh left for Delhi to meet with the National leaders of the party as well as to arrange a meeting with the members of ECI.
On the other hand, rehearsal of the officials who are to be engaged for counting of votes is in progress in the office complexes of the Deputy Commissioners of the respective districts.
The counting of votes for the election to the 10th Manipur State Legislative Assembly held on January 28 last is scheduled on March 6.The results of the election are also likely to be declared on the same day.
The rehearsal for Bishnupur is being carried out in the Mini Secretariat of the district.
Twelve tables have been arranged separately in hall number 1 for Nambol, Oinam and Bishnupur A/Cs while eight tables in hall number 2 for the Assembly constituencies of Moirang, Thanga and Kumbi.
Full rehearsal for the appointed Counting Supervisors and Assistants would be held on February 28 and March 2 respectively.
