The inter-ministerial team of the Planning Commission of India has started the inspection on various central sponsored projects in Manipur soon after the four member team arrived in Imphal this afternoon.
Led by Firoza Mehoratra, special consultant (North East) of the Commission, the team included advisor (NE) SN Brohmo Choudury, consultant, ministry of rural development, SC Gautam and a representative of ministry of social justice and empowerment arrived in Imphal airport this afternoon at 1.30 .
Joint secretary, ministry of home affairs, Naveen Verma who also scheduled to accompany the team was not among the team.
He is likely to arrive on Tuesday in the state capital and join the team.
The team came here to review the progress status of implementation of various development programmes taken up in the state with the funds from the Centre under special plan assistant (SPA).
Soon after their arrival in Imphal the team inspected works sites of the state capitol project at Chingmeirong where construction works of state Assembly complex and high court component are being under taken up with an estimated cost of Rs.90.43 crore since 2004 .
The visiting central team also inspected the construction sites of the mini secretariat of Imphal East district, upgradation works of JN Hospital into Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) at Porompat.
Officials of the concern state PWD, arts and culture and planning departments joined the inspection programme.
The government of Manipur is planning to start the session of the JNIMS within the current year and is on hectic preparation for the same by developing the infrastructures with the fund from the Centre under the special plan assistant.
The inter-ministerial team inspected the progress works of the infrastructures including the construction of administrative building, hostels for the students and class rooms at the site.
The condition of the JN Hospital was also inspected by the team.
The team is scheduled to visit Central sponsored projects taken up at Kangpokpi in Senapati district on Tuesday before a review meeting with the officials of the state government at 4 pm at old Secretariat building.
On the third day of the visit of the touring central team, they will inspect the works taken up by the Loktak Development Authority (LDA) for the conservation of the Loktak lake and its management under the conservation and management of Loktak Lake and associated wetlands.
