Social worker N Itomba has distributed chemically-treated mosquito nets to all the residents of Poirou Tangkhul village under Keirao assembly constituency today.
The mosquito net distribution programme held at the Poirou Rising New Club was attended by Itomba Meitei, Abraham Tangkhul and the Club president C Mohendro as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
In his brief remark, C Mohendro expressed gratitude to the social worker for reaching out to the economically unsound villagers.
He also pointed out that provision of the mosquito nets would be able to combat spread and infection of vector borne diseases particularly the
dreaded Japanese Encephalitis.
While lashing out against the Government for lack of initiative to take up development works in the village, the guest of honour also recounted Itomba's humane gesture of installing two hand pumps when the villagers were enduring water scarcity crisis last year.
On his part, itomba called upon the villagers to air their woes so that all possible assistance could be extended.
Speaking at the occasion, Abraham Tangkhul conveyed thanks to State Malaria Officer Dr Nimaichand for his effort and contribution in the distribution of the chemicallytreated mosquito nets.
