Committee on Protection of Tribal Areas, Manipur (COPTAM) condemns the reported thrashing of CDSU volunteers by the people of Phougakchao area yesterday at Kangvai.
A release of COPTAM said that the hill districts bandh on 29th July was called by COPTAM against census over-lapping.
In protest against the state govt.'s indifferent attitude to the demands of COPTAM, some of its volunteer removed the signboard put up by PWD at Kangvai.
The act of removing the signboard was a show of discontent against the govt.and not directed against the people of Phougakchao area or any other communities.
It questioned why the people of Phougakchao were taking so much interest against the bandh.
COPTAM demanded the state govt.to take up necessary actions against those involved in thrashing the CDSU volunteers.
