Manipuri Diaspora Association, Delhi (MDAD), a secular, non-profit and non-political organisation of Manipuris settled in and around Delhi has strongly condemned the murder of one Naga girl, Miss Ramchanphy Hongray by one Pushpam Sinha (34), a Ph D student of IIT-Delhi.
A press release issued by president of MDAD, RK Brajachand stated that severest form of punishment should be meted out to the criminal for his inhumane act.
The Association expressed grief and condolence on the untimely death of Miss Ramchanphy Hongray.
It has also been reported in the Times of India recently that one girl from Arunachal Pradesh was harassed by school students in Bharat Nagar near New Friends Colony, Delhi.
The Association expressed its deep concern over the rise of harassment cases against the people of North East, particularly ladies in Delhi.
People coming from NE Region by virtue of their culture,language and identity which are different from mainland have to face numerous problems in Delhi.
This key issue needs to be understood carefully by the law enforcing authorities of Delhi.
It is high time appropriate steps were taken by them to curb such rising cases of harassment, the press release added.
