Girl found murdered, two commit suicides

Imphal, March 05 2013:
A 16-year old girl was found dead under mysteriously condition at a rivulet in Imphal West district under Lamsang Police Station today afternoon.
Some villagers found the body floating in Haorang Turel.
Police suspected that the victim identified as Khullem Tondon, d/o late Kh Tulamani Singh of Luker Mayai Leikai, may have been murdered after being raped.
The victim was found half-naked with her phanek (loincloth) lying in an open field over 100 metre from the spot.
According to family members, Tondon went missing after she left home three days back after telling she was going to her grandmother's house at Maklang.
Several cut marks were seen in her head, lips and face.
Lamshang Police have picked up the body and deposited it at RIMs mortuary for post mortem.
A case has also been registered in connection with the incident.
In a separate incident, a young housewife reportedly committed suicide in her own room today morning at Irebgban Mairenbam under Kakching PS in Thoubal district.
Oinam Ongbi Devala(28), w/o O Chinglemba was found hanging inside her room around 10 am.
Her daughter aged about nine months was crying loudly inside the room when the family members found her hanging from the ceiling.
Kakching Police have registered a case in connection with the incident after depositing the body at the mortuary of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) here.
Her family members, who suspected some foul play, said that Devala had stayed at her parental home for a month after the husband beat her some time back.
Yet in another incident, a man committed suicide by hanging himself in his own house at Loitang Khulen Mamang Leikai in Imphal West district today morning.
The deceased identified as Laishram Nilakanta (18) played flute and saxophone for a local wedding band.
According to family members, Nilakanta played with some children around his house before he took the extreme step.
The suicide took place around 10:30 am.
As there was still pulse in his body, the family and local residents took him to CMC Hospital, Koirengei, but the doctors there pronounced him brought dead.
His family said that Nilaknata married six months before and there was no problem between him and any other family members.
