Policy to check spurious edibles framed

To check unscrupulous and spurious eatables having no expiry dates, composition etc, particularly those imported from Myanmar, the Government has framed a policy.
This was stated by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing during the inaugural function of operation theatre and OPD block at Wangoi CHC today.
The inaugural function was graced by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, local MLA O Lukhoi and Principal Secretary (Health) Ram Muivah as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and top officials of Family Welfare and Health Department were also present at the occasion as special guests.
Phungzathang Tonsing stated that the State Government has framed a policy to check eatable items which have no expiry dates and to ban some tobacco products.
The State Government recently banned some eatable items brought in from Moreh.
He claimed that the present difficult situation caused by shortage of specialist doctors can be addressed effectively after some years.
At present, around 131 medical students are undergoing Post Graduate courses.
Moreover, the State Government has already appointed 525 doctors in the last couple of years.
They would certainly ameliorate health issues faced by the public.
He also assured to send the necessary doctors and staff to Wangoi CHC apart from replacing its mattresses.
MLA O Lukhoi reminded that it was late Chief Minister W Nipamacha who upgraded the Wangoi PHC to the present level of a community health centre.
He announced that a sub-treasury office and a bank would be opened at Wangoi soon to facilitate transaction of money by people of Wangoi and surrounding areas.
Moreover, augmentation of Samurou water supply plant has been included in this year's work programme.
Apart from repairing all the roads and bridges of Wangoi AC, renovation work of Imphal Barrage would be completed shortly, Lukhoi said.
