Shasikumar's contribution with both the ball and bat helped Cyclone, thangmeiband defeat TRAU, Kwakeithel in a keenly contested match of the first Elite League Group cricket tournament at Luwangpokpa cricket stadium today.
chasing TRAU's total of 149 runs scored in the 40-over game, Cyclone reached 150 for nine in 39.5 overs to win the cliff-hanger by two wickets.
Besides top-scoring in the Cyclone run chase with a 58-ball 50, Shasikumar also claimed three rival scalps to deservedly bag the man of the match title.
YWC, Langthabal will play Blue Hawk, Khurai tomorrow.
In the MCA Under-14 tournament played today at Khuman Lampak cricket ground, YWC colts crushed UCC, Uripok by 57 runs to advance into the semifinals.
Despite the loss, UCC also reached the last four stage with both teams set to face-off again on March 8 for a place in the final.
The other semifinal on March 7 will be between PCA and MCA.
In the 10th match of the tournament played today, eventual man of the match winner Ng Bikramjit cracked 62 runs from only 59 balls in YWC's total of 150 from 24.1 over before the Langthabal bowlers restricted the opponent to only 93 runs in 11.4 overs.
Meanwhile, Model club, Chingamathak defeated Champ, Khagempali by two runs in today's match of the 1st T-20 Manipur Veteran Cricket tournament being held at Langthabal Public Ground.
batting first, Model reached 137 for seven while the Champ lost nine of its batsmen run and ended two runs short of the rivals' total.
Model's Homeshore was declared man of the match for his match-winning performance of 64 not out from 45 deliveries and three wickets.
Cyclone and Napsa will play tomorrow.
