Even as the Manipur Public Service Commission had forwarded the recommended list for filling up of 10 posts of Grade I in the State Medical Department as per the DPC held on February 27 by the Commission, the Manipur Government is yet to issue order for the announcement of the recommended candidates.
According to sources, there are 14 Grade I posts lying vacant under the Medical Director including 7 consultant posts, 4 posts of Additional Director in the Medical Director, 2 posts of Additional Director in the Family Welfare while one post of Medical Superintendent lie vacant in JN Hospital.
The Government has appointed some eligible and ineligible officers on In-charge basis.
It has been long that promotion through regular DPC is not done, the source indicated.
There have been some senior Doctors whose promotions overdue were in 2002, and in 2004 or whose retirements are due in the early 2010 or mid 2010 .
The Government had issued a notification for the filling of ten Grade I vacant posts of the department last year.
Subsequently, the MPSC had forwarded the list of ten recommended candidates as per the DPC conducted on February 27.However, the Government is yet to issue order to this effect.
It has also been learnt that the matter of issuing order to this effect has also not been restricted under the Election Commission of India's Election Code of Conduct.
The source also said that the file is awaiting approval form the Health Minister.
The delay in issuance of the order has raised myriad apprehensions among senior officers and doctors of the department who are to retire few months later from now.
The intervention of the Chief Minister to give directive to the concerned department may move the stuck official file, sources hinted.
