Imphal, April 02 2009:
Asserting that the Congress led Government has let loose a reign of terror by endorsing its agencies to go on a killing spree, the proscribed KCP (MC) has urged the people not to vote or canvass for the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
In a statement issued to the press, secretary, military affairs of the outfit Lanheiba Meitei today said that the State Government has been fooling the public with ex-gratia and added that while those with connection and friends in positions of power are spared, the common people are left to their own fate.
At the moment, Irom Chanu Sharmila is on a fast unto death agitation demanding the scrapping of AFSPA for the last eight years, said the statement and added that on top of this the brutal killing of Dr Th Kishan and his two subordinate staff have been kept aside.
Instead of redressing the grievances of the people, the Congress led Government is only intent on staging fake encounters and arresting innocent people, it claimed.
In such a situation, the KCP (MC) is left with no choice but to put in all its efforts to neutralise the Congress as a political party, said Lanheiba and warned all not to vote or canvass for the Congress.
This is the only way to bring the Chief Minister to his knees, it added.
The KCP (MC) takes pride whenever any of its cadres are killed in battles with the State agencies, but when the cadres are killed in custody then it strongly condemns such cowardly and dastardly act, said the statement.
Questioning what the Congress party has done for the benefits of the people and the State, the outfit said that instead of addressing these vital issues, the Chief Minister and his men are only interested in pleasing their political bosses at Delhi.
Claiming that the visits of political leaders from Delhi to canvass for their candidates will not bring anything positive to the people, the outfit urged all not to entertain or welcome them.
Urging the people to extend their co-operation in defeating the Congress, the outfit warned that if anyone is found violating this diktat then they will be awarded harsh punishment.
If the people do not heed the call of the outfit then they may have to face bomb attacks or other form of punishment, added the statement.
The outfit will not waste time in issuing statements over any incident of shooting or violence in connection with the election, warned the statement.
The statement further said that none of its cadres are involved in extortion or in abduction cases.
No women with children are engaged, as alleged, said Lanheiba and urged the media to publish only the truth and not reports which may tarnish their image.
It is only the impostors working in cahoots with the Government who indulge in such activities, it claimed.
