A day-long workshop on Autism and learning disabilities for the special educators of children who have problem on speaking, reading and writing was held at the State Guest House here today.
Organised by Spastic Society of Manipur, Department of Education, the workshop was sponsored by Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi.
Around 50 special educators selected under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) from nine districts of the State participated in the workshop.
The inaugural function was attended by Project Director of SSA-SMA M Harekrishna as chief guest and secretary general of Spastic Society of Manipur Laishram Tokendra Ricky as president.
In his address, Harekrishna pointed out that the special educators have an important role to play towards ensuring children with autism and learning disabilities overcome their problem so as to make them responsible citizens of the society.
At the workshop, Laishram Sushma Rajput and Kamala Lakshmi spoke respectively on the topics of 'Introduction to learning disabilities and intervention strategies' and 'Introduction to Autism and intervention strategies' as resource persons.
