Highlighting inordinate delay in compensation and rehabilitation processes of villagers affected by the Khuga Multi-purpose project, Dam Action Committee has submitted a memorandum to this end to the President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at Bunglon yesterday.
The ongoing multi-purpose project that commenced from 1982 has displaced no less than 720 families from their ancestral homes and hearths without no adequate compensation and rehabilitation packages inspite of the State Government's assurance, the Committee said in a release issued today.
Recalling that in protesting arbitrary abeyance of the promised packages loss of human lives and properties had taken place the Committee desired the President's personal intervention in instructing the State Government translate its assurance into action.
The body also handed a copy of the MoU signed between the Committee and the State Government on December 14, 2005 besides urging the first Citizen of the country to ensure implementation of the conditions laid down in the MoU within December 14, 2006.
