Keeping the door open for striking alliances with like-minded regional political parties in the forthcoming 9th State Assembly election slated for February, the Naga National Party (NNP) today announced its preparedness for the said poll.
Interacting with reporters at the Nagaram office complex of Aja daily newspaper today, NNP president NG Hungyo recalled of the political entity coming into force in 1999 under the patronage of former Naga MLAs and public leaders.
Despite is new entry to the State political scenario, NNP began its sojourn fielding three candidates for the previous State assembly elections in Naga areas, the NNP chief said while adding that the political outfit was floated with a regional (NE) aspiration.
Listing peaceful co-existence and cordial relationships amongst various ethnic groups of the North Eastern region as its top priority, Hungyo declared that NNP aspires to convince the Government of India inevitability of including all the armed insurgent outfits operating in the NE in any peace parleys.
Pointing out that vast discrepancies exists regarding development of hills and valley areas mainly due to centralisation of administrative machinery in the capital Imphal, the president suggested establishment of full-fledged mini-secretariats in all the hill districts with a separate incumbent of an Additional Chief Secretary status.
He also opined that appointment of a Deputy Chief Minister would be more conducive in ensuring proper execution of developmental works in the hill districts which had been lagging far behind in terms of socio-economic advancement.
Hungyo also released NNP manifesto for the forthcoming elections.
