Imphal, October 17:
Informing that over 80 oil tankers are stranded at Khatkati (Assam) for the last few days due to intimidation by un-identified people, All Manipur Petroleum Tankers Drivers' Union has drawn the attention of the Govt to their plight and to provide security cover for safe passage of the fuel transporters.
The Union informed that six persons forcibly extorted from the stranded drivers last evening before three of them were banned by Khatkati police.
After the police personnel left with their captives, three others who fled the scene showed up again and threatened the drivers with dire consequences, said the Union while reiterating provisions of security.
