The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Manipur State Committee and All Communities of Mantripukhri respectively organised sit-in-protests at Keishampat and Mantripukhri today in connection with the demand for total scrapping of AFSPA 1958.Informing on its agitation at Keishampat Junction, a CPI (M) State unit release said apart from repealing the AFSPA and saving Irom Chanu Sharmila, the stir was organised to demand publication of the Justice (Retd) Jeevan Reddy committee's report implementation of the panel's recommendation.
The demonstration participated by numerous State level functionaries and leaders also served the dual purpose of raising demand for revocation of the recent termination order of 466 part-time lecturers, added the release.
On the otherhand, the Mantripukhri body conveyed of organising the sit-in-protest to denounce prolong imposition of AFSPA, extend moral support to endeavour of Sharmila and appeal to the Central and State Governments to ensure well being of the hunger striker by scrapping the draconian Act at the earliest.
