The rebel leader was wanted in a dozen rebel attack cases in Manipur.
He was evading arrest since long as he had taken shelter in Indo-Nepal bordering areas to avoid police action.
Rajkumar Meghen was produced in the court of CJM Motihari under heavy police escort and after getting transit remand of three days, the Imphal police proceeded for Manipur capital.
Imphal: It may be recalled here that RK Meghen's arrest was reported first by BBC News on October 13 last.
The report quoting officials had said that Rajkumar Meghen, who leads the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), was held by Bangladeshi police.
On the other hand, the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) had officialy confirmed the arrest of its Chairman Sana Yaima @ RK Meghen by a joint team of Bangladesh intelligence and India's intelligence agency Research Analysis Wing (RAW).
In a press release, the vice chairman of the Front, Kh Pambei had said that on 29 September last, around 12.30 pm, Chairman Sana Yaima was travelling on his own vehicle, Regn No Dhaka Metro G-17-0716 in Lalmatia area under Mohammadpur Police Station in Dhaka when a combined team of India's RAW and Bangladesh intelligence arrested him.
After detaining Chairman Sana Yaima for over 10 days, he had been taken on a special plane to an undisclosed place in New Delhi and had been handed over to India.
This was reported on October 13 on BBC and a section of Indian media.
However, the Government of India has consistently denied that RK Meghen was handed over to India by Bangladesh.
Union Home Secretary GK Pillai had told media and also the Chief Minister of Manipur that the Government of India would inquire whether RK Meghen had been arrested in Bangladesh by that country's intelligence.
But then the Centre has not come out with any convincing story so far.
Meanwhile, people in the valley of Manipur have been demanding that RK Meghen's whereabouts should be disclosed, and sit-in-protests have been organised daily for over a month.
