Lamka, November 30 2010:
The 12hour chakka bandh call of the JAC in Churachandpur district ended without any untoward incident even as volunteers enforcing the bandh struggled to identify those who have been exempted from the purview of the bandh.
Communication with other district have been hit hard as all inter-district transports hold back their services for the day in the district while volunteers were seen blocking private vehicles that made an intermittent appearance on the streets within and outskirts of the town.
The JAC's chakka bandh imposed in connection with the killing of Tatjang village chief Ngamkholet Baite, have exempted school buses, medical and other essential services within the bandh purview but interestingly omitted the Press.
This has led to more than one instance of bandh volunteers hassling with reporters allegedly on the charge that the Press was not within the relaxation purview.
