Imphal, November 21, 2009: The Deputy Chairman of Manipur State Planning Board, Bijoy Koijam urged the Union Secretary of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Smt Jayati Chandra to consider finalising all the proposals submitted by the Government of Manipur so as to enable the State Government to start the works without delay.

Bijoy Koijam met the Union Secretary of DoNER on Friday at Bigyan Bhavan Annexe here and apprised her of the backwardness of the state in all aspects which the Centre must pay special attention to.

The Deputy Chairman of the Manipur State Planning Board drew the attention of the Ministry of DoNER to look into all pending cases of the State's proposals which were yet to finalise.

The Union Secretary of DoNER told him that all the proposals would be finalized soon after a meeting with the Chief Secretary of the Government of Manipur.

The Deputy Chairman also apprised her the project proposals of the widening and improvement of road from Khongman Mangjil to Khongman Okram Chuthek in Imphal East District, Manipur under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) amounting to Rs 11.95 crore and the construction of RCC bridge over Imphal River at Mongkhang Lambi under NLCPR amounting to Rs 624.50 lakh which were still pending for finalization by the Ministry of DoNER.

He informed her that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway had already cleared these two projects.

Mention may be made that the Ministry of DoNER has so far sanctioned 14 projects of Manipur amounting to a total of Rs 51.00 crore during the current financial year 2009-2010. The 14 projects were - Improvement of Sawombung-Sagolmang Road from 0 to 12 Km ( Rs 2.23 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Saikot Block HQr.

in Churachandpur ( Rs 2.97 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Komlathabi in Chandel ( Rs.3.79 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Thanlon in Churachandpur (Rs 2.13 crore); Rehabilitation of Water Supply Scheme at Liyai Khullen in Senapati (Rs 3.43 crore); Composite Water Supply at Motbung in Senapati (Rs 2.56 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Singhat in Churachandpur (Rs 2.05 crore); Construction of District Sports Complex at Ukhrul (Rs 9.20 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Shangshak (0.75 MLD), Ukhrul (Rs 6.91 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply scheme at Langthabal Phuramkhong, Imphal West (Rs 7.64 crore); Construction of Bridge over Jaduiki on Tamei Kuilong Road, Tamenglong (Rs 2.26 crore); Construction of Bridge over Layii river on Kharasom Lazo to Layii road, Senapati (Rs 3.53 crore); Augmentation of Water Supply Scheme at Sangaikot (80 KLD), Churachandpur (Rs.1.25 crore); and Augmentation of Water Supply at Changpikot (0.14 MLD), Churachandpur (Rs 1.05 crore).
